Character Analysis: Sakura Kinomoto (Cardcaptor Sakura)
Important Notes
Note 1: Both the Cardcaptor Sakura manga and anime continuities have some notable differences between them (I.e, the animes of Cardcaptor Sakura and Clear Card having way more Cards than their respective mangas, and Meiling Li only existing in the anime continuity to name a few). However, CLAMP team itself had a large role in making the anime. Mokona, lead artist and composition designer of CLAMP, helped in designing the cards and costumes, and Nanase Ohkawa (director of CLAMP) wrote the story and composed the screenplay of the anime. As such, abilities and feats from both the manga and anime will be taken into account.
Note 2: This has been updated since when it was originally posted, the Clear Card manga was still ongoing. Nearly a year later, it has ended and this has gone through some revisions since then to accommodate new info. The Clear Card anime is reportedly getting a season 2 eventually, and when that happens, you can expect this to get more updates.
Note 3: Some Sakura and Clear Cards have very similar abilities, hence they'll be grouped together to avoid this looking too cluttered.
Note 4: You'll see some Cards here will have "unknown" listed as to what they do, and that's because the Cardcaptor series doesn't fully elaborate on what some can do. As of the th
Note 5: this blog will have a fairly excessive amount of scans, and while that's partly due to this particular character just having that much to talk about, I also want to provide enough context as to what's occuring, so I hope you bare with it. Will also state timestamps and episode numbers for anime clips linked just in case they for some reason get taken down.
Background
Centuries ago, before the events of Cardcaptor Sakura, the East and West magic were separate from each other. That is, until Clow Reed was born, who would then go on to becoming the strongest magician of his era. Combining both types of magic, Clow created the Clow Cards.
With his ability to see far into the future, he foresaw that a young girl, Sakura Kinomoto, would go on to become his successor, so he sealed away the cards in a magic book and planned many of the challenges she would soon face to guarantee she'd succeed in containing all the Clow Cards and become a worthy mistress to his two guardians, Yue and Cerberus.
Sakura, upon finding Clow's magic book many years later in her family's basement, opens it and releases the Cards, which then proceeded to escape to various locations around Tomoeda. Cerberus, who'd also awakened upon the book being opened, urges Sakura to collect the cards, or else a disaster would strike the world.
Upon finally collecting all 52 Cards and defeating Yue, Sakura eventually transforms all the Clow Cards into Sakura Cards, and even surpasses her predecessor, fulfilling Clow's wishes of his successor being worthy of the Clow Cards and his former guardians, and to no longer be the strongest magician.
Equipment
Star Wand
Sakura's first wand, created by Clow Reed to bestow to his future successor. It allowed Sakura to both seal the Clow Cards more easily and utilize their abilities. During the course of the original Cardcaptor Sakura series, this was Sakura's main method of doing such.
Dream Staff
Abilities
Magical Detection
Sakura can sense and detect the presence of magical items and other people possessing magical abilities. Some of the earliest instances of this being her sensing the Shadow Card.
Sensing spirits
And sensing Clow Reed's presence.
Dream Seer
Dream Seers are people capable of seeing the future in their dreams, as Fai notes about Princess Tomoyo.
And Tomoyo later says Ashura was capable of the same thing via being a Dream Seer.
Sakura has seen the future in her dreams various times throughout the story, but by the end of the OG series, she can choose to see the future whenever she wants similarly to Clow Reed.
It should be noted that she suppresses this ability though and has never used it even in life or death situations.
- There are multiple statements suggesting Clow could see everything (with the exception being matters concerning love), and Sakura's ability should likely scale off his.
Cards
Clow Cards/Sakura Cards
Magical cards created by the powerful magician Clown Reed, formed from a combination of Eastern and Western magic. All cards are unique in that they're actually spirits that come with varying characteristics and abilities differing significantly from each other. While formerly under Clow's power even years after his "death", they're now under Sakura's control after having capturing and signing her name on them, becoming Sakura Cards in the process.
Clear Cards
Unlike the Clow Cards, these cards where made by Sakura herself.
Sakura's power has grown much stronger by the time of Clear Card, that she's able to create her own cards, albeit this is generally done subconsciously.
By the end of Clear Card, she's capable of merging Cards, fusing both the Time and Rewind Cards to create the Remind Card. Like the Clow cards, these are also sentient spirits with varying abilities per Card.
Color key:
Pink = Cards from the first Cardcaptor series
Red = Cards from Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card
Action and The Move
The Action Card grants mobility to inanimate objects, as shown when Sakura uses it to command trees and move cups.
The Move Card is similar in that it also moves objects around, but does so by teleporting them to various locations. This is only limited to inanimate objects, and doesn't work on things that are too large. (15:08 - 16:30) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 19)
Aqua and The Watery
Watery, just like Aqua, also has the power to manipulate water. Its been shown to create whirlpools and a tidal wave to chase after Sakura.
Anime version (19:30 - 21:00) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 3)
Appear
The Appear grants life to inanimate objects. It notably granted life to the animal shaped cakes made by Sakura and her classmates.
The Arrow
A spirit appears that then fires arrows at a target at Sakura's command (1:11:40 - 1:12:00) (Cardcaptor Sakura: The Movie)
The Big
The Big card can make things and people grow in size (7:50 - 9:13) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 31). Its been shown to grow various things such as a cat, fish, as well as plants.
Blade and The Sword
With the Blade, Sakura can summon a pair of twin swords.
Similar to Blade, the Sword also summon a sword, except... instead of two, its just one. However, the strength of Sword is dependant on the heart of who's holding it. Additionally, Sword can possess someone, as shown when it possesses Sakura's friend, Rika.
- Blade and Sword have been shown to be capable of touching intangible beings such as Shadow and Shade. Sword can also cut through space warps; Sakura using it to cut through a looped space created by the Loop Card (17:50 - 21:00) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 21). Sword also can fire a beam to slice through objects.
Blank
The Blank Card erases the memories of those Sakura wishes it on. (And this scene was badass so gonna share it as well)
Blaze and The Firey
The Blaze Card has the ability to create and manipulate fire to attack with.
Break
The Break card nullifies spells; two shown instances being it nulled two spells Kaito placed on Sakura (one that shrunk her and another that trapped her in a dream world) upon being summoned, and Sakura later using Break to destroy a dream world created by the Dreaming card.
The Bubbles
The Change
Choice
Unknown.
The Cloud
The Cloud can create and manipulate clouds (12:50 - 13:43) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 39)
The Create
Takes the appearance of a book. Can be used to create anything that the user writes in its pages (14:47 - 15:30) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 31). Naoko is shown having created various types of animals (I.E, a dragon, panther, hippo, horse, a dog, and many others, all with wings added that she wrote in the book) as well as a princess while using this.
Later, Sakura uses this to create a firey serpent, a stone mammoth, and a stone goliath (0:00 - 4:58) (Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2: The Sealed Card)
The Dark and Light
Both Light and Dark can only be used while together. Both are also the two strongest spirits of the Clow Cards (barring the Nothing).
The Dark can warp space to create a void of darkness to isolate a target. This void is seemingly endless in size, as neither the Wood card nor Sakura could find an end to it. Spending extended periods of time in this causes those trapped inside to disappear (though notably, Syaoran vanished within seconds of being trapped by the Dark, while Sakura was able to endure much longer).
Non-magical beings also won't notice the amount of time that has passed while in it, as shown that despite Sakura spending a handful of minutes in it (around 5 minutes in the anime), those without magic never noticed anything out of the ordinary.
Dark can also manipulate time to an extent, being shown to be capable of bringing forth the night.
The Light can both create and manipulate light, as shown when it created light to nullify both the void of darkness made by Dark and the spell of darkness cast by Eriol the caused many to fall asleep.
Likewise, Light is also capable of manipulating time, having brought forth the day and preventing the sun from rising temporarily (relinking this).
The Dash
The Dash grants the user increased running speed (6:54 - 7:40) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 30)
The Dream and Dreaming
The Dream forces those whose spell it was cast on to dream of their desires (such as making both Syaoran and Tomoyo have a dream of Sakura), or even shows events that will happen in the future (22:00 - 23:07) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 40)
Instead of forcing targets into unconsciousness like the Dream Card, Dreaming transports people into a dream world that reflects their desires.
The Earthy
Earthy's ability is to control the earth and other aspects of it such as soil, rocks and stones. It was even shown manipulating these to attack Sakura and Cerberos.
The Erase
The Erase, as its name implies, can erase people and things from existence. In its first showing, it erased all of Sakura's friends, and nearly erased Syaoran as well. Sakura later uses it to erase a bunch of stuffed sheep she'd been pinned by
It can even erase memories, as shown when those who were erased and eventually restored had no memories of ever venturing into the cave that the Erase was in.
Exchange
The Fight and Struggle
The Fight card summons a spirit that's proficient in martial arts. (15:40 - 16:17) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 20). Can also be used to grant the user martial arts skills (this here is obviously non canon, but in the Magical Battle Arena game, Sakura uses the Fight Card to give herself an increase in skills before delivering a flurry of punches and a kick to the opponent). Info on her moveset from MBA here
The Struggle, much like the Fight, also summons a spirit that's adept in fighting (12:30 - 16:02) (Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card episode 16). It should very likely also grant the user martial arts skills just like the Fight.
Flight and The Fly
The Flight grants the user the ability to fly.
...as the name implies, the Fly also grants the user the ability to fly.
The Float
The Float's ability is to cause people and objects to float in the air. (17:26 - 18:58) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 15)
The Flower
Its use is to create a variety of various flowers.
The Freeze
Grants the user the ability to freeze objects. (12:52 - 14:00) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 60)
Gale and The Windy
Gale's ability is to create strong winds that it uses to attack with.
Windy... you guessed it. Does the same. It can also be used to restrain someone with strong currents of wind as well.
The Glow
Pretty straightforward. The Glow just creates tiny orbs of light.
Gravitation
Gravitation's ability is to pull someone or something via gravity manipulation, such as when it was pulling Sakura across an incredibly long distance towards a tree at high speeds. (13:35 - 17:03) (Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card episode 5)
Hail
Hail's ability is to create a storm that rains down hail from the sky. (12:27 - 16:41) (Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card episode 12)
The Illusion and Mirage
The Illusion card shows someone an illusion of what they want to see, such as when it showed Sakura an illusion of her mom.
Similarly, the Mirage also casts illusions, such as when it showed Sakura an illusion of Syaoran.
The Jump
The Jump allows Sakura to leap great heights and distances (18:53-19:29) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 51)
Kindness
Unknown.
Labyrinth and The Maze
The Libra
Alright so this took a looooot of digging to find since this card (at the time this blog was first made anyways) hasn't been used in the anime nor manga, but has the ability to detect if someone is lying. Info comes from a Clow Book released a long time ago. Scans here and here.
The Little
With this card, Sakura can decrease her size, as shown when after she uses the Big card and accidentally turns too big, she uses the Little card to reverse the effect. (19:16 - 20:25) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 55)
The Lock
The Lock's ability is to lock objects and prevent them from opening through conventional methods. It can even magically shield exits to prevent escape, as shown when Meilin was repelled back after trying to break a window to escape a locked room she and her friend were trapped in (11:38 - 13:46) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 38).
The Loop
The Loop's ability is to magically manipulate space and connect different locations, which Sakura uses to trap the Dash card (17:55 - 19:50) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 53).
Lucid
Lucid is capable of making things invisible to others. This effect notably doesn't last long (16:45 - 17:38) (Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card episode 9), as Sakura notes when trying to capture the Spiral card.
Mirror and The Mirror
Mirror has several uses, one being that it can create inverted illusions of the environment. It can also make duplicates of other cards with the same abilities, as Sakura used it to make another Flight card.
The Mirror can also take on the appearance of others, as shown when Sakura uses it to imitate her own appearance. Sakura can also summon the Mirror to take on the form of a mirror to reflect attacks (19:46 - 20:27) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 28)
The Mist
The Mist creates a corrosive fog that melts anything it comes into contact with (18:50 - 19:33) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 61).
The Nameless, The Nothing, and The Hope
(The former two above fuse together to form the Hope, which is why all three are grouped together here).
The Nameless card formed after Sakura realized her feelings for Syaoran upon learning that he'd be returning to Hong Kong after all the Clow cards had been sealed (17:38 - 24:30) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 70)
The Nothing is composed of the negative energy of all the 52 Clow Cards and is stated to be the strongest of the cards created by Clow Reed. Similar to the Erase Card, it can also erase things from existence (41:29 - 45:27) (Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2: the Sealed Card). Nothing has other notable abilities as well:
- Can grant mobility to inanimate objects, as shown when it made horses from a carousel attack Sakura (1:06:15 - 1:06:51).
- Can fly (1:07:27 - 1:08:18)
- Teleportation: (1:08:48 - 1:09:00)
The Power
The Power card's ability is to make the user stronger by granting them more power (20:39 - 22:15) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 13)
Promise
Unknown.
The Rain
The Rain creates and manipulates rain from the small cloud it rides on. The intensity of the rain can range from a small shower to a heavy downpour (17:28 - 18:35) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 4).
Record
The Record can record and project anything its recorded as a realistic hologram. Record can also project events that took place in the past without having been there itself, having shown Sakura her mom's past decades ago. It has also displayed the ability to project someone's memories; Sakura using it to project a dream she had previously.
Reflect
Reflect creates a magical barrier to reflect attacks back in the opposite direction.
Remind
The Remind restores erased memories; with Sakura using it make everyone remember who Akiho is after Kaito erased the entire world's memories of her
Repair
Repair undoes damage caused to objects.
The Return
The Return's ability is to send the user back in time (9:47 - 12:15) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 68). It notably drains magic power fast though.
Reversal
The Reversal turns things upside down (15:58 - 17:55) (Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card episode 11). Anyone capable of flight can evade this ability though (18:11 - 19:18).
Rewind
Rewind regresses the age of the target; shown when Sakura used it on Syaoran subconsciously after wishing they could have met each other earlier.
The Sand
As the name suggests, Sand has the ability to manipulate sand to perform attacks (17:54 - 19:25) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 41).
Shade and The Shadow
Shade is a spirit made of shadows and as such, is intangible to most things.
Shadow, another shadow-y spirit, manipulates shadows to form attacks. Shadow can also be used to restrain someone, such as when Sakura used it to restrain the Thunder card (20:17 - 21:00) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 8). It can even track someone's shadow to find them, examples being Sakura using Shadow to track Tomoyo's shadow after getting separated from each other, and Syaoran using it to track Sakura's shadow after she was turned small by Kaito.
The Shield
The Shield projects a barrier that protects what or whoever the master wishes. It has even shielded Sakura from time manipulation from the Time card (19:27 - 20:39) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 12; more info on the Time down below btw), and has also shielded her from the Nothing's erasure orbs (1:01:55 - 1:02:26) (Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2: The Sealed Card).
The Shot
The Shot is activated by saying "shoot" or "aim" (12:30 - 13:06) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 28). After doing so, Shot transforms into a ball of light that will fire energy blasts at the target (18:33 - 18:50).
Siege
Siege takes on the appearance of a large cube to imprison someone inside. Sakura can even command Siege to become softer and more flexible (13:02 - 14:00) (Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card episode 4). Siege can also be enlarged to cover vast expanses of land; Sakura commanding it to cover an entire mansion and garden (1:40 - 2:55) (Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card episode 16). Its been shown to protect against external magical effects as well, with Sakura using it to shield herself against Kaito's time stop magic.
The Silent
Silent cuts off sound of anyone nearby (8:57 - 9:19) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 7). It can also transport those causing too much sound away from itself (16:18 - 16:55).
The Sleep and Snooze
Sleep casts magical dust over people to force sleepiness on them (19:27 - 21:02) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 56).
Snooze pretty much does the same thing as Sleep. By casting magical dust over others, it can make them sleepy in seconds.
The Snow
The Snow manipulates the weather to cause a snowfall (10:37 - 14:34) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 36). It can even manipulate snow to use as a means of attacks (16:31 - 17:45).
The Song
The Song copies the voices of those it deems a good singer and recites their songs (15:00 - 20:54) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 23).
Spiral
Spiral takes the form of a spiral shaped prison to trap the target within itself. It also posseses a spring form, in which it forms a tornado-like body to chase and entrap a target (17:57 - 19:00) (Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card episode 9).
The Storm
The Storm summons a rainstorm and takes the appearance of a tornado (1:20 - 2:50) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 15).
The Sweet
The Sweet makes foods sweeter and turn other objects into sweets (16:38 - 18:25) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 29).
Swing
Swing takes on the appearance of a dragon that then travels underground to create large fissures and miniature earthquakes (1:37 - 4:38) (Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card episode 16).
Synchronize
Unknown.
The Through
This card is never shown in action nor is its capture, but going off of Kero's dialogue, it allows the user to become intangible and pass through objects (15:40 - 16:53) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 59).
The Thunder
The Thunder summons lightning to attack with.
The Time and Time
The Time card can slow down, stop, and rewind time (15:15 - 16:47) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 12). Additionally, it can speed time up as well (17:13 - 17:37). This card notably drains magic reserves fast.
Time's ability is unknown atm. Fully expecting it to be the same as The Time's though.
Transfer
Transfer magically swaps the positions of two people, as shown when Sakura swapped places with Syaoran to confront Kaito.
True or False
Unknown.
The Twin
The Twin duplicates people and objects (15:14 - 16:31) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 43).
The Voice
The Voice steals the voices of others, rendering them mute (7:55 - 10:10) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 37).
The Wave
Unknown.
The Wood
The Wood can manipulate vines and branches to restrain someone, and was even powerful enough to hold back the Earthy.
Miscellaneous:
-Sakura can only utilize two cards at once. Some examples of this being her using both the Illusion and Maze cards to create an illusion of a planetarium and using both the Watery and Windy cards to defeat the Firey (17:45 - 18:55) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 35)
-Although Sakura is generally shown summoning cards during fairly lengthy animations (and these are likely just for dramatic effect), she can in fact summon them instantly. She was also able to summon her Dream Staff and the Gale Card just by thinking, and was able to use them against Akiho even after the latter was magically restraining her to the point she couldn't move or speak.
-According to Ohkawa, Sakura can extend her lifespan at will. (Source here)
The CLAMP Multiverse
(Also official art if anyone is wondering)Alright so the section after this is reliant on establishing CLAMP's multiverse, which fortunately is simple enough. CLAMPverse has multiple confirmations of being a multiverse, some examples being: Maru and Moro telling Watanuki of the existence of parallel worlds coexisting at the same time as others, yet all very different from each other, which they were informed of from Mokona of Cephiro, who's also from another universe (Mokona being from the universe of Magic Knight Raynearth, another CLAMP story). They also mention how there are multiple versions of everyone existing in other universes as well.
Another example is from Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle, CLAMP's big crossover story. Having arrived from different universes each, Kurogane and Fai question Yuko as to their whereabouts and her identity, in which she respawns to Kurogane by saying they're in Japan. Kurogane immediately says he from Japan, in which Yuko says he's from a different one than the one they're currently in. Traveling to different universes is actually a plot point of TRC. Yuko explains to the protags that there are many different parallel worlds, and that people you may know in one world could be a completely different person in another, with a different life. These worlds may also have different rules, standards, and friends from one "world" could be an enemy in another.
Like I said, this was a super straightforward part to explain. Not overly complicated I hope. There's other examples that could be brought up for support, but I don't want this to be too long. Hope what's posted above is enough to convince you that CLAMPverse is solidly a multiverse.

- Syaoran fries and breaks a metal railing brought to life by Eriol with his thunder magic (17:15 - 18:20) (Cardcaptor Sakura episode 61)
Due to surpassing Clow Reed, who subconsciously created Fei Wang Reed (the main antagonist of Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle) with his own power, and who was shown to be much more powerful than most of the TRC cast (barring Princess Sakura at her full power at the end of the story, Clone! TRC Syaoran w/ Clow magic, and Clow Reed), Sakura herself should upscale the following feats:
- Using one of Princess Sakura's memory feathers (which are imbued with her power), Seishiro turns the virtual country of Oto into reality (here and here).
- A single one of Princess Sakura's feathers can power an entire town.
- While using a portion of Princess Sakura's power, Fei Wang tears apart the the multiverse
- The clone Princess Sakura and clone TRC! Syaoran begin to restore the multiverse
- Clone TRC! Syaoran performed this feat using power passed on from Clow Reed
Minor note: between Princess Sakura and Sakura from Cardcaptor, the latter should arguably be the stronger of the two at their respective peaks. The events of Cardcaptor Sakura occur specifically because Clow wanted to find someone stronger or equal to him in power so they could split his own power as a means to prevent another event like Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle from happening, and even knowing all the events of TRC in advance with his power to see the future (was also responsible for most of the events that occured in the story even years after his death), it should be noted he didn't choose Princess Sakura to be the one to split his power (he also raised her for many years, so he should definitely be aware of what she can do at her peak), but instead chose CCS's, because she was the only one capable of doing so. Figured I'd bring this up since its a fairly debated topic among CLAMP fans, and this should show that CCS! Sakura should still be stronger than her TRC! Sakura counterpart at her absolute best. If not stronger, then at very bare minimum relative to her in power. I'd lean stronger myself as that's more in line with the connection and context between both stories.
Weaknesses
- Despite being an extremely powerful magician, even Sakura isn't without her shortcomings. She's much less experienced in comparison to most magicians of the CLAMP verse, and she doesn't exactly seem to be in a hurry to become extremely adept in this field any time soon either. More or less all her experience in magic come from her battles against the Clow and Clear Card spirits and other magicians that's seen in series.
- A recurring issue that she's come across in the series is that she's also capable of running out of magic, which leaves her extremely exhausted. Her battle with the Nothing left her with so little magic, that a spell that would affect the person nearest to the Nothing with the most magic instead went to Syaoran instead of Sakura. Changing the formerly Clow Cards to Sakura Cards have on some occasions left her extremely tired as well. Her magic getting completely spent has notably decreased over the course of the series as she's grown in power and better learned to control her abilities though.
- Sakura more or less needs her cards and wands to focus and use her abilities. There are rare instances where she has done so without them in hand, such as when her happiness when she reunited with her mom (who was actually the Illusion Card in disguise) caused her to create a shield over a pool when Kero tried to rescue her from drowning and prevented him from entering, and regressing Syaoran's age subconsciously after wishing they could've met each other earlier, but for the most part, these are generally done subconsciously and as such aren't incredibly likely to occur consistently.
However, the ending of Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle (in which Sakura gives away her Star Wand to her TRC counterpart) does imply that the spirits of the cards will defend Sakura if it comes down to it. Given they're all sentient beings that very much want to protect Sakura at all costs (is even shown in Clear Card as well, which is why the Clow/Sakura cards allowed themselves to be stolen by Syaoran as a means to protect Sakura), this isn't that much of a stretch.
Material Used
-Cardcaptor Sakura (manga and anime)
-Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card (manga and anime)
-xxxHolic (manga)
-Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle (manga)
-Kodansha Edition Clow Book
(All of CLAMP's media do exist in the same multiverse, with the characters crossing over and referencing each other now and then, but for the most part, most stories don't have some particularly noteworthy feat, save for the ones mentioned above. xxxHolic and Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle are also the stories closest tied to the plot of Cardcaptor Sakura as a whole, mainly since Clow Reed is the one who kicked off both stories).
In case there's still confusion about the abilities of some of the Cards, the episode/chapter number they first appeared in can be found here (Clow/Sakura Cards) and here (Clear Cards) if anyone is interested in checking for themselves.
Special Thanks
Special thanks to discord users Radioactivecaffeine and Strunton, both of whom I could discuss Sakura's feats and abilities with.
Afterword
For anyone interested in checking out CLAMP's works, I'd recommend either Cardcaptor Sakura or Magic Knight Raynearth for starting points. The former being CLAMP's most popular work to date, filled with a fun cast and goes back to the roots of the classic magic gal genre. The latter is much shorter in comparison, but is a fun read/watch nonetheless and gives a good taste for what CLAMP stories are typically like (keyword being typically) with amazing fight scenes and is a quick way to gauge if CLAMP is for you. I'd maybe recommend Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle as well since it also has a veeeeeery interesting plot and pretty solid fights as well, though given its the most infamous CLAMP story due to how confusing it gets halfway through, IDK if I'd say its the first one you'd want to check first. Up to you. Anyways:
